A brass-bound mahogany cased two-day marine chronometer

The three-piece case with hinged lids, the front with rectangular metal maker's label and numbered on a circular metal roundel, with two brass carrying handles, lacquered brass bowl and gimbal mount, the 4¼ in. silvered brass dial signed 'ULYSSE NARDIN / LOCLE SUISSE', with seconds subsidiary and numbered in red '4068', with power reserve indicator below the XII, blued steel hands, the movement with gilded plates, No. 4068, the maker's mark in a roundel, Earnshaw spring detent escapement, bi-metallic compensated balance, with helical spring, diamond endpiece to the balance, the escape wheel and second wheel with inset screwed jewelling, four baluster pillars and chain fusée drive with Harrison's maintaining power, (1 key, no case key).

Condition report

The case is in good original condition. The top is dry and has a slight crack. Some marks and knocks consistent with age. The silvering to the dial is tarnished and the seconds hand is lost. The movement runs but is dry and some dirt is visible. It will need to be cleaned and serviced.
