A large Victorian silver Monteith, John Round, Sheffield 1893, in William & Mary style, the undulating rim with 'c' scrolls interspaced by leaves, ribbon tied threaded girdle, the sides embossed with lobes and flutes around two large cartouches with textured scalework and leaf scroll frames, one engraved with a crest and motto MISERICORDIA EST MEA CUPIDO, cast lion mask and ring drop side handles, on a conforming stepped spreading circular base, 36.5cm diameter, 87ozs, together with a mesh grille for use as a rose bowl.

The crest is that of the Laing family.
