Indian & Moroccan Sale

This July Bellmans Auctioneers, Wisborough Green, West Sussex, is pleased to announce the sale of a substantial collection combining antique and decorative items along with architectural heritage pieces from India & Morocco. This eclectic and unique single owner collection will be offered for sale on 19th July at 7 pm, with viewing available from the 18th July. All lots will be illustrated online with live bidding via the-saleroom.com. The evening will include a drinks reception with canapés .

This diverse collection holds highly sought after items, including antique architectural temple doors and surrounds, Buddha’s, stone carvings from India and lanterns. One might be surprised to hear that this collection did not arrive at its final destination and has been held in a storage facility for over two years. The sale of this collection is in association with Leo Vaughan-Williams, art advisor and curator.

The sale offers dealers, collectors and the novice auction buyer the opportunity to own some extraordinary items. With estimates ranging from £50 to £1000, the sale invites all budgets.

Highlights include a pair of profusely carved 19th century hardwood temple doors. This piece 2118 - Copycould make for a magnificent entrance. The temple door holds a sale estimate of £700 - £900. This piece is one of many temple doors being sold in the sale, each holding a variety of sale estimates.

The sale also includes a quantity of large stone carvings, depicting Indian scenes. The terracotta relief panel is decorated with dancing Indian females and is expected to realise between £100 and £150. The carving is 100cm wide x 60cm high.

The sale also includes; a tall carved gilt wood figure of Buddha reaching an impressive 194cm high and a carved giltwood figure of a multi handed deity, 120cm high. Both estimated at £300 - £500.

Other items include a large 19th century bronze drum converted into a table.Two pairs of these very distinct items are to be sold with very modest estimates of £60 - £100. These tables could create a great signature piece to any interior or exterior.

Lanterns make up a large proportion of the sale, including this highly decorative Moroccan hall lantern, 75cm high, with vivid blue and red glass. The lot is expected to realise between £150 and £250.

Rugs, ornate beds and pots are among the many other items included within this very exciting collection being sold at Bellmans Auctioneers.
