Over the past twelve years, Bellmans has developed a dedicated jewellery department, with three specialists based in Sussex handling more than 2,500 lots each year. Our team offers FGA-qualified expertise across antique and contemporary jewellery, including work by makers such as Cartier, Van Cleef & Arpels, Chopard, Boucheron, Tiffany & Co. and Elizabeth Gage.
We are happy to offer initial sale advice on individual items or entire collections, by appointment, at our Sussex saleroom or London office. Specialist Jewellery and Watches auctions and valuations are held monthly at the Sussex saleroom and attract both national and international interest.
Valuations are available at our Sussex saleroom, our London office at Cromwell Place, South Kensington, and at selected valuation days held around the country. Preliminary estimates can be provided by email, and home visits can be arranged where appropriate.
To make an enquiry, please contact our London or Sussex office and a member of the team will be happy to advise.
Jewellery often carries personal meaning, whether through its materials, craftsmanship or history. Pieces may mark important moments, commemorate relationships, or simply be collected for their design and quality.
Jewellery has long been given to celebrate milestones, from engagement and wedding rings to gifts marking significant occasions. These associations are part of what continues to draw collectors and buyers to antique and modern jewellery alike.
At Bellmans, we offer a wide range of jewellery, including silver, antique and modern pieces. Each item is assessed on its own merits, whether valued for its design, maker, period or condition.
Alongside historic jewellery, we also handle contemporary and designer pieces suitable for everyday wear or special occasions. Well-made jewellery remains timeless, and quality materials and thoughtful design ensure enduring appeal.
How to start a jewellery collection
A useful starting point is to consider what naturally appeals to you. This might be a preference for silver or gold, a particular period, or certain colours or styles. Collecting tends to be more satisfying when it is guided by personal taste rather than trends.
It is also worth considering your intention when starting a collection. If you plan to wear pieces regularly, materials and construction become important, as some designs are more robust than others. While alterations can sometimes be made to less suitable pieces, this can involve additional cost and time.
Taking specialist advice can be helpful when buying or selling jewellery, particularly if you are considering starting a more focused collection. Our jewellery team at Bellmans, based in Sussex and London, is available to offer practical guidance and answer questions before decisions are made.
Appointments can be arranged at our Sussex saleroom or London office at Cromwell Place. We are also happy to provide initial advice by email or telephone.
