Valuations by WhatsApp

Bellmans Valuations by WhatsApp is a simple way to receive preliminary auction advice from our specialists by sending images and details via WhatsApp. It allows us to provide guidance on value, authenticity and suitability for auction without the need for an initial visit.

The service is free and without obligation.

How does the service work?

Once you contact us via WhatsApp, you will be prompted to send photographs and any relevant information. A Bellmans specialist will review your enquiry and respond with valuation guidance and advice on next steps.

Most enquiries are answered within 24 hours.

What can be valued via WhatsApp?

Our specialists can advise on a wide range of categories, including:

  • Jewellery and silver

  • Asian art, ceramics and works of art

  • Watches and clocks

  • Paintings and prints

  • Decorative arts and sculpture

  • Furniture

  • Books, maps and manuscripts

  • Coins and medals

  • Retro video games, trading cards and collectables

If you are unsure whether an item is suitable, simply send an image and we will advise.

Is the service free?

Yes. All Bellmans auction valuations are free, whether provided in person, online or via WhatsApp, and there is no obligation to sell.

How accurate are WhatsApp valuations?

WhatsApp valuations provide reliable preliminary auction estimates based on the images and information supplied. For certain items, particularly high-value or complex pieces, an in-person inspection may be required to confirm details before a formal valuation is given.

What photographs should I send?

Clear photographs in natural light are most helpful. Where possible, include:

  • Overall views of the item

  • Close-ups of hallmarks, signatures or labels

  • Images showing condition, wear or damage

  • Measurements or weights if known

  • Any accompanying paperwork or provenance

If you cannot provide all of this, do not worry — our specialists can still advise.

Do I need to visit the saleroom?

Not initially. Many items can be assessed from photographs alone. If closer inspection is required, we will invite you to bring the item to one of our salerooms or discuss alternative arrangements where appropriate.

Is my information kept confidential?

Yes. All enquiries are treated in confidence, and images and information are handled in accordance with GDPR requirements.

What happens after I receive my valuation?

Your specialist will explain the available options, which may include consignment to auction, further inspection, or advice on timing and sale placement. If you choose to proceed, our team will manage the process through to sale.

Can I use the service from outside the UK?

Yes. WhatsApp valuations are available internationally. Consignments, however, are handled through our UK salerooms.

Can you advise on inherited items or probate matters?

Yes. We regularly advise on inherited items and estates. Formal probate valuations can be arranged following inspection.

How do I begin?

Simply contact us via WhatsApp and follow the prompts to send images and details. A specialist will be in touch.
